The Social Community - A Place to Connect

Content

Ours is an active community where people regularly walk, bike or run. Where people still smile and greet each other warmly on the street. Where people really look out for and care for their neighbours, especially those in need.

What You Can Do

A healthy community is a caring community. Here are some things you can do to help ensure the well-being of yourself and your community:

  • Volunteer - help build a stronger community, gain skills and make new friends
  • Stay active and healthy through recreation, arts and culture (Walk Maple Ridge [PDF, 23MB])
  • Engage with local service organizations
  • Advocate for the development of essential community and social services
  • Embrace employee sustainability initiatives including carpool programs, transit passes and telecommuting
  • Speak up for safety and security issues in our community
  • Support healthy work/life balance for employees
  • Exercise your right to vote - 2008 is an election year for local government

Take Action for Maple Ridge! Use the My Commitment Form [PDF, 130KB] to list actions you and your family can do to help make Maple Ridge one of the most sustainable communities in the world. Then post the list at your home, classroom or place of business. Encourage friends, family and co-workers to make their own commitment!
