Maple Ridge proudly recycles and composts about 50% of residential waste.
Every year, Metro Vancouver residents and businesses generate 3.4 million tonnes of garbage and recyclables. Metro Vancouver is consulting on a new Draft Integrated Solid Waste and Resource Management Plan to guide the management of solid waste in an affordable and environmentally responsible way. Join them at a public meeting for more information about the Draft Plan, or to provide feedback. More information is available on their website, including a public meeting schedule.
Adopt-A-Block
The Maple Ridge Adopt-A-Block Society encourages and supports individuals, businesses, organizations and local governments to accept responsibility for litter in the community. The goal of the Society is to control and prevent litter through action and public education. Maple Ridge residents are encouraged to "Adopt A Block" of their own by contacting the Maple Ridge Adopt-A-Block Society at 604-463-9699 or send them an e-mail.
topGarbage Disposal
Maple Ridge residents are responsible for their own waste removal. Acceptable garbage may be taken to the transfer station or alternatively a listing of the private collectors can be found in the Yellow Pages under Garbage.
topRecycling
The District of Maple Ridge has an extensive recycling program which is operated by the Ridge Meadows Reycling Society. To arrange for collection, call Ridge Meadows Recycling at 604-463-5545; advise them you are a new resident and they will deliver your blue recycling box and colour-coded bags curbside at your new address.
For more information on curbside residential pickup service and scheduling in Maple Ridge, please visit the Ridge Meadows Recycling Society's website.
topYard and Garden Trimmings
If you have too much green stuff, too many leaves, grass clippings and branches that won't fit into your backyard composter and too much grass to leave on your lawn there is an alternative to throwing it in the garbage, ravine or burning. Unlimited yard and garden trimmings can be dropped off at the transfer station.
