Potential C48 Bus Re-routing
Content
Coast Mountain Bus Company (CMBC) in partnership with the District of Maple Ridge held an Open House on September 4, 2008 to discuss potential C48 bus re-routing. The proposed changes are to address the following:
- Eliminate highway operation, with its problems of cross-highway access and safety concerns
- Introduce two-way service on 100 Avenue/Jackson Road, between 102 Avenue and 256 Street
- Improve service coverage in the future residential area of Thornhill
- Improve service to Samuel Robertson Technical School
- Introduce public transit at an early stage in the development of the area
Users of this service generally live north of the Lougheed Highway. Re-routing this bus route will eliminate highway operation and the problem of cross-highway access. Customers on the western portion of 100 Avenue will have two-way operation. Customers destined for Samuel Robertson School will have more travel options. The C48 route distance will be increased by 0.84 kilometres. Due to flag stop operation, there are no bus stops on Lougheed that would need to be discontinued and none on the proposed routing that would need to be introduced.
