Mudslide Blocks CP Rail Tracks in Maple Ridge

At approximately 1:30 pm this afternoon a mudslide in the 21400 block of River Road has blocked the CP Rail tracks in Maple Ridge. No one was injured in the slide but the tracks are currently blocked and a freight train is caught in the slide. The slide is approximately 20m wide at the top and one rail car wide at the bottom. Residents of three homes have been evacuated as a precautionary measure. A geotechnical engineer is on-site assessing the stability of the slope. Updates will be provided as further facts become known.
