The Social Planning Advisory Committee (SPAC) advises Municipal Council on matters relating to social planning and the social needs, social well-being, and social development of the community.
Do you know a local business in Maple Ridge who has demonstrated or exemplifies the spirit and principles of building community capacity and community involvement? We are looking for nominations of business who contribute to the overall health and well-being of our community. If you have a business you would like to nominate, we would love to hear from you.
Past and current projects include a child and youth project, an affordable housing study, an information and referral service project, a neighbourhood development study, participation in the Picket Fence Project, and Community Food Mapping Project. The most recent initiative is the Community Solutions Project, Snap Shot 2002 Community Impact Profile for Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows and Katzie Building Community Solutions. A condensed summary is also available. Complete copies of the report are available at the Maple Ridge Municipal Hall reception counter, the Leisure Centre front counter, and for sign out and return at the Maple Ridge library.
The Committee includes Councillor Judy Dueck and Councillor Linda King as the Council Liaisons; Rick Butler representing School District No. 42 (with Stepan Vdovine as Alternate), Inspector Jim Wakely representing the RCMP; Vicki Kipps, Andy Libbiter, Kathie Chiu, Lyn Taylor-Scott, Gwen Champagne, Caroline Wilkin and Connie Schmidt representing government and community agencies; Ian Brooks, Ross Dunning, Kim Macey and Paul Livingstone as Community-At-Large Representatives; Sue Wheeler and Shawn Matthewson as staff liaisons.
