A joint Parks & Leisure Services Commission serves the communities of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows
The purpose of the Commission is to function as an independent policy making body. The Commission has the responsibility for the direct delivery of leisure services to residents and, for entering into agreements and contractual obligations within the limitations of approved budgets to deliver services through various groups, agencies and businesses. The list of services offered by the Commission includes everything from the planning, maintenance and scheduling of Parks and Public Recreation, Cultural and Heritage Facilities to offering programs and drop in activities in numerous locations to all age groups.
Commission meetings are held the second Thursday of the month and also alternate between Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. The Commission is made up of nine members appointed by resolution of the respective Council and Board and include three members from each of the District of Maple Ridge Council, District of Pitt Meadows Council, and School District No. 42 Board of Trustees. Six citizens are appointed to the Commission -- four from Maple Ridge and two from Pitt Meadows. These members also act in a liaison capacity with many community organizations that deliver recreational services. To be considered for a position on this Committee please submit an application form.
