The heart of local government in Maple Ridge is located in municipal hall at 11995 Haney Place in the downtown area. It is where the Mayor and Council conduct their business on behalf of the citizens as well as where most District departments are located. It is the 'citizens' place', where people come to enquire about local government projects and initiatives and where they voice their opinions and provide feedback on how to make their community a better place. It is where visitors come to see the fabled "Beast" which is located at the front of Municipal Hall on Dewdney Trunk Road.
