The primary mission of the Maple Ridge Fire Department is the protection and preservation of life, property and the environment for the citizens of Maple Ridge. This service is provided to the community by a group of dedicated paid-on-call and full-time firefighters, full-time officers, and administrative support staff.
The general categories of emergency response are alarm response, fire suppression, rescue, hazardous material spills and response for medical aid. A great range of service is provided under these general categories. The firefighters are trained to meet the requirements of B.C. Firefighter Standard, Level II and are trained to the highest level of First Responder First Aid available in the Province.
The Fire Department is actively involved in the development and testing of the Municipal Emergency Program. As residents of Maple Ridge, the officers and firefighters strive to create a safe community for their families and neighbours.
The Fire Department administration staff is comprised of six full-time officers and two administration support staff. The department relies heavily on cross training and good communication to ensure that the department continues to function efficiently and effectively. All the officers assume a duty rotation, which involves responding to all Fire Department emergency calls for four consecutive days 24 hours a day.
